What remains when Alzheimer’s sets in? A vacant stare isn’t always an empty one. The brain remembers music long after it has forgotten everything else.  With original songs and covers,            Steve Little discovers this one-on-one and takes his audience along on his journey through dementia patients’ minds.
This solo show with stories and live music is a moving look at how one man makes a connection where other connections have failed.

The show is series of short monologues interspersed with   songs–three originals and two covers—as Little relives his career singing for older folks ranging from very much still-with-it doctors and war heroes to those with dementia who haven’t spoken in years.

Throughout 12 different scenes, you will meet Miriam, grounded for disruptive behavior;  Bill, a true war hero; and Mary, a woman who comes out of her shell just in time.  What ties the show together is the healing and social power of music.  Long after Alzheimer’s claims the mind, music remains vibrantly alive within.

Little’s warmth and gentle sense of humor shine throughout his one-man show.  And the music ain’t bad either…ask the lady whose 100th birthday party he played at last week.

About Steve Little:
Steve plays his own original compositions as well as music from the Great American Songbook. Steve has appeared before audiences up and down the East Coast for more than four decades. For the past twenty-one years some of his favorite audiences have been those in elder care, whose more active years may be over, but who still have a lot to give. Through this work, Steve has encountered the healing power of music, and now he brings this wisdom to all his performances.
